 Classes

LOCR offers both rowing and sculling classes. Participants learn to scull in single shells. Our Rowing classes use larger boats, either 4 person or 8 person to learn. Each participant will use one oar and work as a team to move the boat.

Both disciplines offer level 1 and 2. If you are just beginning you will take level 1. If you are a little rusty or just coming back to rowing after some time off sign up for level 2.

Check out our class schedule. We offer various time of day and days of the week.  We are sure you will find something that works for you.

Sculling - Levels 1 & 2

Sculling is the technique of using two oars in unison. Sculling classes are taught in single shells with a low student to instructor ratio. This on the water class teaches the basics of boat handling, safety and proper sculling technique. Level 2 sculling offers a foundation in which to gain more confidence and build the skills necessary to join one of our Club's flexible rowing programs.

Rowing/Sculling Level 1 &2

This class, which runs Monday, Wednesday and Friday, offers the opportunity to learn both sweep rowing and sculling. Sweep rowing is the technique with one oar per person. This is done in 2,4,or 8 person boat. Participants will also learn the basic skills in sculling. By offering you a taste of each discipline, you can decide which you prefer and fine tune your skills in your level 2 class.
