Tucker has over thirty years of rowing experience as both a sweep rower and sculler. He started rowing as a high school sophomore for Los Gatos Rowing Club in Los Gatos, California, then for Oregon State University as a lightweight, followed by sculling at Thames River Sculls in New London, Connecticut with coach Jim Dietz. In 1993 Tucker joined Portland Boat Club where he still sculls today. During his time at Oregon State Tucker raced in both eights and fours, was most valuable lightweight oarsman, and captain of the lightweight team. At Thames River Sculls he raced lightweight quads and doubles. Tucker has competed in and won medals at various regattas including the Pac-12 Rowing Championships, Opening Day in Seattle, NW Masters' Regional Championships, Head of the Lake, and Head of the Charles. Tucker coached the LOCR novice men for the 2011/2012 season and the Lewis & Clark College novice men for the 2012/2013 season. Tucker is a USRowing level three certified coach, the highest level possible.
