LOCR offers year-round rowing for both new and experienced rowers in 7th - 12th grade (12 - 18 years old) in the greater Portland area, including Portland, West Linn, Beaverton, Tigard-Tualatin, Oregon City, Wilsonville, as well as Lake Oswego.
Programs include developmental middle school rowing, a competitive high school team, and summer camps. No prior experience is required and anyone can learn!
Middle School Rowing is an introduction to the sport, for 7th and 8th graders and is offered each fall and spring season. This is a non-competitive program, with practices held a few days each week, during the first several weeks of the season. Rowers can repeat the program or join the High School Team their freshman year.
The High School Competitive Team is for 9th-12th graders, and new and experienced rowers are welcome (Middle School rowing is not a prerequisite). Practice is 6 days a week, daily after school and Saturday mornings. Fall and spring season are "on the water" with a focus on boat skills and speed, and the team competes at regattas around the Northwest. Winter season is dryland practice with a focus on strength training and conditioning, and we generally practice at our training facility at Lake Oswego Parks & Recreation.
