Procedures for Rowing at LOCR
These guidelines are drafted to allow LOCR members to stay safe and healthy while enjoying rowing during this pandemic. Please use common sense and always stay at least 6 feet from others. By working together, we can stay safe, healthy and active! We will ask you to leave if you are without a mask or are ignoring the following safety measures.
Remember the most important methods to avoid transmission work best in conjunction with each other.

What to do before leaving home:

At the boathouse:
FOR MASTERS, ALUMNI, AND EXPERIENCED JUNIORS - The faster we launch the more time we get on the water.
Launching goal = 5 minutes from shuttle to launch!
This should be a fast process that involves moving your equipment to the water and getting off the dock
Returning to the boathouse:

What to do before leaving home:
- Fill out the well-being check list and submit it on the day you come to the boathouse
- Stay home if you are feeling unwell or are showing ANY symptoms
- Self quarantine if you have been exposed to COVID 19 in the past 14 days.
- Consider staying home if you are in the “at risk” population as defined by the CDC. Especially if you have other pre-existing issues
- Change into your rowing gear after checking the weather
- Bring your own towel in case you flip, and life vest if you want it in the shuttle launch.
- Fill your water bottle.
- If you have your own life jacket, please feel encouraged to bring it.
- You may want to put all these items in a drawstring backpack that you can keep in the boat
- Confirm your assigned launch time and equipment on iCrew.
- Wash your hands and pack your mask.
What to do after arriving at the parking lot:
- Park or drop off at foothills park
- Make sure you’ve submitted the well-being checklist for that day. One is due each session for contact tracing.
- Do not gather in groups in the parking lot before or after rowing please. You can
- Leave all belongings in your car that aren’t needed to row, or that you aren't willing to take with you in a boat.
- Put on your face covering.
- Walk to the check in area to await transportation to the dock.
- Use this time to warm-up, stretch out, or meditate with social distance.
At the boathouse:
- You will have your temperature taken each time you come to row before being permitted to row
- Wear a face covering at all times on land and dock.
- Maintain at least 6 feet separation from other rowers (and public) at boathouse, on ramp, on dock.
- Avoid gathering at the choke points near the doorways.
- Obey any direction from the LOCR safety monitor on the dock and the coach on the water.
- There are one way lanes and arrows to follow to navigate the boathouse.
- Follow the arrows in the clockwise pattern for launching
- Reverse the pattern to counter clockwise when docking and leaving.
- Do not carry items for others, except to move the boat to the water.
- Avoid touching tools and slings
- place high viz vests in the orange bin after use
- Clean and return lights and stroke coaches to their bins
- It will not be permissible to leave ANY personal belongings on the dock, We are spraying bleach on the boats and oars and things left out are at risk of being sprayed.
FOR MASTERS, ALUMNI, AND EXPERIENCED JUNIORS - The faster we launch the more time we get on the water.

- Confirm equipment with the dock master
- Move the boat from racks to water with partner only touching the last 24 inches of the bow or stern.
- Put in oars from rack
- Confirm with dockmaster/coach what the water plan is for the day
- You may remove your mask if you wish while rowing
Returning to the boathouse:
- Before docking, put your face covering on.
- Listen to the dock master and be patient while landing. Follow the equation: first two out = first two back
- Put the oars in the used rack for cleaning
- Put the boat in prepared slings for cleaning
- Leave the boathouse landing area immediately after you have put away equipment and go towards the shuttle area to return.
