As the state begins to re-open LOCR and the Lake Oswego Parks and Rec department are working together to re-open the Charlie S Brown Water Sports Center. USRowing and the state of Oregon have provided guidelines to safe operation which we have taken into consideration while developing our phased return to rowing.
Our guiding principles are a slow staged approach to resuming activities. Err on the side of safety and "protocol overkill" to start.
We are privileged to be able to row and need to be doubly good citizens!

Phase 2 - accepting new rowers and members
This is when we are able to gather in groups of a greater, but still limited amount and the distanciung rules allow the rowing of team boats again. This phase will have a chance after summer if things are going well.
The current climate in the Lake Oswego and the greater Portland area will determine when we open the programs up to bigger groups and team boats.

This includes coverage for member club premises and member club operations including, but not limited to, camps/clinics, on-water practices, events and activities otherwise not excluded. The same applies for registered regattas. If you are a USRowing-sanctioned regatta in good standing, all verbiage within the master policy is in force for the regatta. Please Note: Failure to abide by federal, state, and local mandates including, but not limited to, social distancing protocols may lead to possible gray areas within the verbiage of your policy. If practices take place prior to your state’s green light reopening phase or a regatta is held contrary to federal, state and local guidelines, it may potentially impact the USRowing General Liability insurance.” Washington State Guideline for Paddle Sports From Guided ATV, Paddle Sports, and Horseback Riding: “3. During Phase 1 of Safe Start Washington clients for guided tour trips must be all be from the same household with maximum of 8 participants. In Phase 2 groups of mixed households allowed, with a maximum of 3 households and a maximum of 12 individuals in a group. In Phase 2 overnight trips are allowed. Socially distancing still required between participants of different households.”
We will keep a blog page up with regular updates on club activities and progress. We will be advancing our programs slowly and with caution. The dynamics of our situation will require us to be flexible, adaptable and diligent. Taking these safety measures DOES NOT guarantee you won't contract COVID-19 or that the symptoms will be mild. We advise everyone to critically analyze their situation and make the right choice for themselves.
Step 1 - Read and review the athlete protocols Step 2 - Sign and submit the athlete protocols form to Preston Step 3 - Schedule a meeting with Preston to review the protocols and get a boat and oar assigment to be used at all sessions you attend for the forseeable future.
Now that you've signed the athlete Protocols and you're on the appropraite iCrew team you will be able to sign into sessions and get one step closer to rowing! On the day of your sessions you will need to have the Well being checklist filled out and submitted in order to get down to the boathosue.
Now that you are ready to be safe and row again, it's important you know what to expect. Please review the boathouse floor plan and the video bellow to familiarize yourself with the plan.
*July 1'st - The path to the gate closes for construction. LOCR will be using our launches to shuttle people from the amphitheater dock to the boathouse. Modified protocols will be sent to everyone intending to row.
